Brought to you by the BHS 21st Century Fund
Wonder what it would be like to be your child, going to high school in Brookline in 2016? How does the presence of the 21st Century Fund at BHS enhance that experience, making it fundamentally different from the high school you may have attended?
On December 12, you will have the opportunity to experience a small taste of the unique experience of attending Brookline High. BHS faculty members will demonstrate the learning objectives of their Fund-sponsored pilot programs. Join us in the MLK Room, beginning at 7:00 pm, for this parent-oriented master class that parallels some of the 21st Century Fund-sponsored programs currently being piloted at the high school.
Two courses will be featured:
The Mindfulness Initiative: A school-wide initiative that integrates strategies for managing stress and building resiliency, transforming BHS into a healthier, less stressful place to learn and work. Liz Gorman, BHS 21st Century Fund Program Leader, will open the class with a brief mindfulness exercise (similar to exercises practiced throughout BHS during the school day).
Racial Awareness Seminar: A year-long co-taught sophomore year Social Studies elective that explores the complexities of race within our national, local and high school communities. Malcolm Cawthorne and Kathryn Leslie, BHS 21st Century Fund Program Leaders, will facilitate a session of this seminar that is taught to BHS 10th Graders.
Register soon as seating is limited. REGISTRATION CLOSED to this free event.
